Using the stash

The dreaded cold still lingers and my voice is now no more than a whisper. On the upside however I started leave last Thursday so sleep is on the agenda for a few days at least. I have averaged 15 hours the last three day so hopefully the body will begin to recharge.

The only sewing going on has been basting background hexagons and a pile of 3/4 inch cream hexagons does not a pretty photo make.

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. Still have my cold so not much sewing go on. When I get really run down this is what usually happens. The only cure is a complete break from work when my body gives itself permission to be sick and I then get better. I have two weeks off straight after Easter so am guessing there will not be much of a change until then.

Design Wall Monday

This Monday I'm back to the tessellations quilt. At the moment I seem to be making one per month . 25 is my target so a way to go as this is block number 10.

The blocks are pieced using the English paper piecing method. Once they're prepped like this they go together quite quickly.

I probably should be calling this post something else - you will understand why when you see the photos. Dreaded cold just won't go away. Spent most of the day in bed when I should have been catching up with friends for lunch.

During the week Keryn mentioned she had done some shopping and some extra fabric had just popped into her cart. I may have done a little shopping myself in the last week and promised to show.


Some lovely little Mrs March blenders that seem to work with lots of different things.

Some Timber that plays very nicely with my Hope Valley. I may even have decided on a project for these.

Japanese dots just because they are so lovely. The two big pieces are actually slightly different colours.

Spicy Scrap because I love the dots and the other fabrics are unusual.

Some reproductions. My first love and I need to get back to working with them for a while.

Design Wall Monday

Continuing on with the red and neutral snowball theme from last week I have made another block. They say speed kills so I should be fine.

When I'm starting a quilt I like to spend some time thinking about how I will piece it and more importantly press the seams. Takes time but I enjoy the journey.

The cold that won't go away is still lingering. I thought it was gone last Thursday but back with a vengeance it came on Saturday. I am now dosing myself up with vitamin C.

Very little sewing going on still, but I was able to baste a whole heap of hexagons. Very boring as they are all background but I will be thankful down the track.

Design Wall Monday

Still have a cold so not much happening around here. I did start to play with something new though. I have never made a two colour quilt and love this one. I want it simpler though and here is my first block. One day I may even have enough to make it onto the design wall.



I then did something that confirmed I was sick. When sewing the squares I made smaller half square triangles from the pieces that I would have normally cut off and thrown in the scrap basket. They are cute and I may keep going.
