Design Wall Monday

Last week was sunshine and heat and tonight we are preparing for torrential rain and savage winds. Got to love Australian weather.

We have had devastating bush fires in several states. Chookyblue has put out a call for quilts. I'm finishing stitching the binding on this little quilt to send.

I did finish my Trip Around the world top. You will have to imagine it has borders as the lack of light made photographing it too difficult.

I also added the centre to my French Mosaic. For the first time I used the glue basting method and it will be the last time. It may be slightly faster for preparation but any time saved is definitely lost when the time comes for removing the papers. I will go back to my tried and true thread basting.

Design Wall Monday

My design wall this week is my lawn. My trip around the world is half done. I'm happy with it so far and hope to have a completed top to share next week.

On My Needles.

Today was the hottest on record in Sydney. The mercury hit 46 degrees Celsius. Perhaps not the best day to start a new project.

I'm making the Cradle cardigan. Ironically the yarn colour is Frost.

Design Wall Monday

My New Years resolution was to sew something everyday. Doesn't matter whether it is by hand or machine as long as I do something. Day 7 of the new year and so far I have kept my resolution. Some days not much gets done, others a lot more. I am hoping that all the little bits added up will make me more productive.

This week I finished the first quarter of my trip around the World.

Day 47 - Weigh in Day

The downward trend continues with a loss this week of 0.7 kilos. Happy with that.

This morning I woke up exhausted. No reason why. I nearly skipped the gym but in the end I decided to go. So glad I did. After my workout I was tired but all of a sudden had enough energy to get through the day. Amazing.

I also love how the gym gives you good indicators of your fitness. Every day is its own challenge of doing better that I did the previous day. Happy to say at the moment that I am making progress every visit.

Day 43 - back in the gym

Last Thursday I went back to the gym. It has been way too long. I loved it.

I have been a member for just over 6 years and still clearly recall the trepidation of joining and being overweight. For a time it was like I was invisible but last week I was welcomed back like a long lost friend. It is a truly satisfying feeling to work hard and heaven forbid sweat.

I am still restricted to cardio as the rotator cuff has not healed totally but anything is better than nothing.

My challenge for 2013 is to find a balance between all or nothing. It can be done.

Day 38 - Weigh in Day

Well a hectic two weeks and life is about to return to normal. I forgot to check in last week and fortunately it wasn't because I had a gain. For the second week in a row I stayed the same weight. Eating things like this may have had something to do with it.

This week was very busy with all sorts of Xmas functions. Food not on the plan was consumed but in moderation. What is pleasing is that I had a loss of 0.4kgs for the week. I think it may have had something to do with these:-

My blood alcohol concentration must be zero so my alcohol consumption was really down. Yesterday I was surprised by several people urging me to have a drink. Their logic was that I would be fine in a couple of hours. I'm not willing to take any risks at all. I hear all the stories at work from people saying I thought I would be OK to drive.

So the plan for this week. Get back on track with my eating. In the main that means cutting out unnecessary snacks. I also want to work on my water consumption and exercise.
