Day 2.

Tonight saw me finish row 12 on my trip around the world quilt. Progress is slow but steady.

I also took this photo of my cutting table today to shame myself into taking action. No wonder things are so hard when I have this tiny space to work with. Some serious clearing to be done.

 

My 365 day challenge.

I love a personal challenge so have set one for myself. I will make progress on one of my projects each day for 365 days. Does not matter how much or how little. The aim is to gives myself some me time everyday.

Today I added some squares to my trip around the world quilt.

 

 

Design wall Monday

On my design floor tonight is the beginning of the second quarter of a trip around the world quilt. The bright colours are a change from my reproductions but I am loving watching it come together.

I have been keeping up with the challenge of sewing, knitting or crocheting for an hour a day. I have been knitting for the last two nights. Not much difference in the two photos I am afraid as I am a slow knitter.

The first picture shows the colour accurately.

When finished it will be a cute tunic for my gorgeous niece Ivy.

 

 

I did do so thing everyday this week.

Instagram is proving to be easier at the end of the day to post a picture of what I have achieved in my hour of me time. So here's a catchup on the days I haven't posted this week.

Wednesday. I spent my time finishing the components for the first block of the mystery quilt.

 

Thursday. Individual units all sewn and the block starts to come together.

 

Friday. Some me time with my machine. This will be a trip around the world quilt.

 

Saturday. Another night, another trip around the world. This one is hand pieced.

Happy to report that one hour has been managed this week on everyday. Bring on week two.

 

 

Design Wall Monday

A busy week but progress made on a number of projects.

The second ring of the dahlia block has been added.

The flannel hexagon quilt continues to grow. It is already big and there are only 6 flowers joined. The beauty of 10 inch hexagons.

I also finished another octagon block bringing my total to five,

In much more exciting news my second finish for the year. My trip around the world is done.

Nothing subdued about the back.

Some little accomplishments this week. First up the third of sixteen album blocks completed.

I also completed another segment for Cream Tea.

My Trip Around the World quilt came back from the quilter. I'm currently working on the binding.

I also finished my third Grandmothers Star block. Not exactly sure what I have in mind for them but something will come to me.

Design Wall Monday

Last week was sunshine and heat and tonight we are preparing for torrential rain and savage winds. Got to love Australian weather.

We have had devastating bush fires in several states. Chookyblue has put out a call for quilts. I'm finishing stitching the binding on this little quilt to send.

I did finish my Trip Around the world top. You will have to imagine it has borders as the lack of light made photographing it too difficult.

I also added the centre to my French Mosaic. For the first time I used the glue basting method and it will be the last time. It may be slightly faster for preparation but any time saved is definitely lost when the time comes for removing the papers. I will go back to my tried and true thread basting.

My design wall this week is my lawn. My trip around the world is half done. I'm happy with it so far and hope to have a completed top to share next week.

Design Wall Monday

I've been busy with lots of things that don't involve sewing. I have however made some progress on my Trip Around the World. The first quarter is half done. I need to get moving on it as it is due at the quilters December 1st.

So what been keeping me busy, Amongst other things at 50 I am finally learning to drive. I am making very slow progress but everyone tells me I am being too hard on myself. I have the car, now to get my licence.

Not a lot of progress here in the last week. Both my leader/ender projects do however have another row added.

My focus has been Honey. She has astounded the vets with how well she has bounced back from her injuries. Stitches out and another check up on Thursday.

A busy week ahead so I am predicting some progress on my projects this week. Always happy with progress no matter how small it is.

Design Wall Monday

One of the benefits of working the way I do is that some weeks I make recordable progress on a number of projects. It may only be a new block or joining some pieces together but it acts as motivation for me to get to the next step. Can't explain it as in most other areas of my life are process orientated to reach my goals as soon as possible. I have learnt to accept it is how I do things and take my joy in the little steps along the way.

So what I have been working on this week. First up another hexagon flower block is finished. My total is now 3 of the 64 required.

A number of people have commented in the past on this block and its construction. Most thought it was English paper pieced. It's not. Sue Ross an Australian quilt designer has these great perspex templates made for a number of her projects.

I also finished another giant hexagon flower and added it to the 2 already made. The beauty of this one is that there are only 10 full blocks and then some fillers.. Of all my current hand projects I'm guessing this will be the first finished.

Some progress made on my flying geese quilt. I have started to sew them together and this little pile represents 16 of the 97 needed.

I also started a trip around the world - as you do.

Lastly progress on my bow tie leader/ender quilt. I am in love with it and need to restrain myself from making it my primary project.

I don't have high expectations for much being done in the coming week. Our gorgeous Honey was bitten by an Alsatian yesterday. Initially the vet thought there was no organ damage. Unfortunately when she had surgery today her bowel was damaged and needed to be re-sectioned. Her pancreas is also enlarged and will need to be watched. She is in safe hands and hopefully we can visit tomorrow.
