Design Wall Monday

My wall reflects my week. Time spent piecing bits and pieces and trying out ideas for blocks that will use some of my stash in 2015.

On the left are two monkey puzzle blocks. They mark a return for me to playing with repro's. They will finish at 5". Pattern is from Handful of Scraps. I will make it queen size.

In the middle is the progress I have made on Bonnie's Grand Illusion. Slow and enjoyable process.

Immediately below is a fox block which will eventually be joined by more till I have enough for a single size quilt for my great niece Ivy.

Finally on the right are a couple of test blocks I made tonight using the Accuquilt Hunter Star die. Will be another scrappy project. Again the plan is for queen size.

So that's four quilts already I will be working on in 2015. I know they won't be the last. Here's to finishes in the new year.

Bust the stash

10 weeks ago I decided enough was enough and I really needed to start taming the stash. So once again I began tracking my purchases and usage. As you can see it is not working at the moment.

The scary thing is I have been buying less so in a weird kind of way you could say it is working.

Part of the reason for the purchases in this weeks report was a sale on the last trading day of the year of my local quilt shop. They also had books at 20% off. I purchased a book from Laundry Basket quilts that uses antique quilts for inspiration. It is gorgeous. I may have started one of the quilts from the book today. The good news I will be able to make it totally from stash.

Grand illusion progress

Still feeling poorly so not much sewing done. I am the biggest sook when I am sick. Everyone around me is fortunate it doesn't happen often.

I did manage to get some four patches made so they have been added to the wall.

Plan for tomorrow is to go back to step 3. It will be good to see how the green plays with the other colours..

Molly has been my constant companion today. She is getting old so likes her comfort. She pulled down this cushion from a chair so she didn't have to lie on the floorboards.

Grand Illusion Mystery

I think this is the fourth time I have started one of Bonnie's mystery quilts. Sadly not a single one is finished. Bonnie promised this one would be easier so I succumbed. As always progress is slow. Here is where I am at this morning. Will post another photo this evening with hopefully many more components made.

Boxing Day

Well it's been a while since I posted. Life got busy and as always blogging just seemed to get lost. I post more on Instagram and if you are interested in what I am doing you can find me there. My used ID is @bibbot.

I'm not a 100% today just a viral thing I hope. I did find some time for a little sewing. I was not going to start this quilt till the new year but couldn't resist so made a test block. Think I am going to love it,

Pattern is called Fancy Fox.

Day 15

Laurie's granddaughter and I have been making a quilt. Today we finished the top. I have been in charge of cutting and pinning. Ellen has done all the sewing. She has done an amazing job and I am so proud of her. I don't think at eleven I would have done so well.

It is very windy here today so will get better photos once it is quilted.

Just so no one thinks I never finish anything here are two little projects I finished for my great niece Elle. First up a Gidday Baby cardigan.

I also made her this hat. Shame it didn't fit her but one of Ivy's dolls is happy to wear it.

Finally today's photo prompt was L is for.... The obvious photo would have been of Laurie but instead I captured my beautiful lavender which has bloomed beautifully this year.

Day 14

A lazy Saturday was just what I needed.

A trip to Quiltsmith saw the purchase of this yellow fabric for the next Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. I have never finished one but hope springs eternal.

Finally something new on TV tonight. Whilst watching Scott and Bailey this hexagon was stitched.

So there you have it. Two weeks gone and time found for me to the things I love Each day achieved. Bring on week three.

Finally just because I can another photo of CLEO..She suffers from the heat so she is in heaven now that Laurie has set her up with her own personal fan.
